When Menan first told me about their Big Chill Wedding, I was so excited to see and experience the cultural elements she described. She mentioned that there would be a band there performing a traditional arabic “dabke” dance, which is not something that I’d ever seen! It was a TON of fun during their reception. Oh and in case you’re wondering, they cut their cake with a SWORD. Such an amazing wedding to be a part of!
From the bride: Hunter and I both work for US Foods. At the time, Hunter was working 3rd shift while I was working 1st shift so we would have only ever crossed paths at the end of my workday and the start of his workday. I happened to be helping with an employee appreciation meal that we had every few months. I was working in the kitchen and he was going through the line getting his food. He saw me but I didn’t see him. He contacted me via Facebook trying to get my attention and I tried to blow him off. Being the persistent and determined person he was, he didn’t back down. After months of conversation, I finally agreed to dinner with a friend. We clicked instantly and have been inseparable ever since.
From the bride: I had been wanting to go on a picnic for 4 years and one day when I was killing time at Target I saw a cute picnic basket and sent Hunter a picture of it. He ended up buying me that very picnic basket for my birthday in June. One rainy Friday at the end of July we were driving back from a day trip to Black Mountain and we made plans to finally have a picnic the next day at the park. So that’s what we did, Saturday morning we went grocery shopping and grabbed some food for our picnic. We packed a blanket and some playing cards and headed to Frank Liske Park. We ate, played cards and kept an eye on the rain cloud that was threatening our good time. At the end of the picnic, I stood up to get ready to pack up our things. As I stood up, Hunter grabbed my hand and said: “I have something for you”. He reached into his pocket while he started talking about our relationship and… I started crying and I think tuned out all noises. Hunter says he asked me to marry him, but all I could tell was that he had started crying. I didn’t hear him, but I assumed he was asking me to marry him and I said yes in the form of nodding my head as I continued to ugly cry. Thankfully there was nobody there recording us or taking pictures because we truly looked crazy but it was perfect, just me and him, our lack of words and tears.
These two absolutely belong together and it was so wonderful to see a love like theirs. Kellie and I couldn’t have been happier than to portray that love in their beautiful wedding photos! Congratulations, Menan & Hunter!
