When the Charlotte Knights actually moved to Charlotte, I told my husband that we absolutely had to go to a game sometime. Most families have their thing. You know, that tie that really binds the family together and sums up childhood memories. Baseball was that for us. It gives me warm fuzzies and big smiles like little else. I can still smell the fresh grass on the field and taste the popcorn (possibly with a side of grass from attempting a home run!). Growing up, baseball and the Yankees were everything in our house.
My brother and I played on a tee-ball team with our best friends that my dad coached while my mom brought all the snacks. My little sister played on a blanket, but she was still there so it was quite the family affair. There’s almost nothing more nostalgic for me than the sound of a bat hitting the ball and the entire crowd erupting in cheers. Well, this year I FINALLY got the the opportunity to go to a Charlotte Knights game!
Now I know that it isn’t the majors, but if you know anything about the Knights, you know that they pretty much fill the seats every game. We indulged in all (well, almost all) the ballpark favorites: beer, hot dogs and cracker jacks! There was definitely more food involved…it may have gotten slightly out of hand. If you haven’t been able to get to a game at the BB&T Ballpark yet, definitely try to make it out soon! The view of downtown Charlotte is absolutely incredible. You’ll just have to ignore all the construction! If you ever make it out to Bark in the Ballpark, you may see me roaming around the stadium with at least one of our dogs.
