When I first left for college, I was put in a “potluck” roommate situation like most kids are. I was a nervous wreck wondering if I would get along with the person that I would spend every single day with for an entire year! There’s so many variables at play when it comes to living with someone, much less someone you’ve never met. Luckily, she turned out to be one of the best friends that I will ever have.
I was talking to her one day when she mentioned how cheap the flights were from New Jersey to Charlotte, and before I knew it, she was booking a flight down here to visit for the first time! I thought about some of the things we could do while she was here, and I immediately thought about taking a trip to Charleston since she had never seen a true Southern town. Let’s face it, there’s nothing quite like walking around those historical streets. It’s an experience that transports you in time and space for the good and the bad. It’s a moving experience to stand in places where others stood hundreds of years before you. I couldn’t wait to share this little slice of southern heaven with her.
It’s only three hours to Charleston from Charlotte, which we spent laughing and catching up. However, once we arrived, we didn’t expect to be driving around for an entire hour to find a parking spot (apparently everyone was in Charleston for spring break!) but we didn’t really have any plans other than to explore! …and to shop and eat of course. The food in Charleston is to.die.for. Here are just a few photos of inspiring places we found on our trip!
Look at these beautiful cobblestone streets!
These trees are just so magical. George Washington Square has been here since the early 1800s!
This is a movie theater. How cool is that?!
