Some of you have probably noticed that I have been pretty MIA from the social media world for a while, but I definitely needed some time away. I promise, I am going to be coming back and blogging a bunch of shoots that I’ve done recently! In the meantime, I figured it was a good time to explain where I’ve been lately.
Most of you have probably read my previous post about our fertility journey, so you know that we had a pretty tough time toward the end of last year after losing Tyler’s dad and having our second early miscarriage with IVF. If you’d like to get caught up, you can find that post here.
At the beginning of the year, we decided that we needed a break from the doctors, medications, emotional rollercoaster, etc. Our doctor suggested a low-inflammation diet (no gluten or dairy) for our next round of IVF, but we just weren’t ready to start another round so quickly, so we decided that I would just give the diet a try for a few months to see how it affected my cycles. I was surprised to find out that although my cycles were really long, they were actually happening, which was a definite change from before. After a few months of trying on our own, we decided that if we weren’t able to get pregnant the last month that we would go back and give IVF another try.
I woke up one morning and though it was a little early, I decided to take a pregnancy test, mostly because I hate waiting. I was literally in shock when I saw that it was POSITIVE! I immediately called Tyler (since he had already left for work) and tried to get him to come home so I didn’t have to tell him over the phone, but I am terrible at hiding my emotions and of course he figured it out! I just started crying. I think I took a pregnancy test everyday for at least a week after that. Haha. We made an appointment with the doctor and got a blood test and ultrasound to confirm. Waiting for that appointment was HELL. I actually thought I was going to have a breakdown when we were finally in the room waiting for the ultrasound. With everything that had happened, I was a nervous wreck that something else was going to go wrong.
Thankfully, everything has been going so wonderfully, and we couldn’t be more excited. AND we are far enough along now that we feel {mostly} comfortable enough sharing it with all our family and friends! I am now in the second trimester, and hope that I will have some more energy to keep up with the social media end of things. Thank you to everyone who has been there for us on this journey. We know that this baby will be so loved!
P.S. For those of you wondering, we are due on January 12th!
